078 - Paperweight

My cousin bought me this paperweight when she visited. It doesn’t serve as a paperweight, but reminds me of how much I miss music, and how I should do more.

070 - Calligraphy

My mother bought this for me in 2008; the central character being my name. I should get around to hanging it up sometime…

046 - Packed

Mother has packed her bags and left for home. Life resumes its regular routine, though it will take me awhile to get used to a quiet apartment again.

044 - Mother and son

An attempt at a “dual portrait” shot (if there is such a thing), at the insistence of my mother. The lighting in my apartment isn’t great at night, so I had to make do - but I think it didn’t turn out too bad in black and white.

041 - Batman Forever mugs

When Batman Forever came out, McDonald’s in Australia sold these limited edition mugs. With the help of my parents I got them all. My aunt found them the other day, and was going to throw them out, but my mother insisted she keep them and brought them to the US to give back to me.

This is my first attempt at a decent portrait shot. What person more fitting than the woman I call 媽 (Ma)?

021 - Preparations

Tomorrow is Chinese New Year’s Eve, the time for the traditional reunion dinner. Since I’ve moved to Seattle, I’ve generally gone out to a restaurant for the reunion dinner, seeing as I have no family here. However, this year mum is here and she is cooking dinner. Today we bought all the necessary ingredients; tonight she starts the preparations for a day of cooking tomorrow.
