Week 52: Ox tail stew
I made it! Every week for a year! Ox tail is one of my favourite cuts of meat… I’ve made ox tail before, but not as a part of this challenge. As the weather got crappy after last week’s bout of beautiful weather (why am I not surprised, Seattle?); I thought a stew would be a nice dish to cook this week… And what better cut than ox tail, which I’ve not had in awhile?

088 - Final challenge meal: Ox tail
This week is the final week for my 52 Week Cooking Challenge. I’ve managed to cook every week for a year; which may not seem like much to a lot of people, but for those of you who know me and my eating habits is a big deal.
I’ll probably do a post-game analysis on here at some point; but for now I’m just happy that I’ve made it this far.
The meat for the final meal? Ox tail. I’ve made ox tail before, but never as part of the challenge. Tonight I’m making ox tail stew. A worthy meat to end the challenge on, methinks.

Week 51: Steamed halibut
I wasn’t sure how halibut would taste steamed, so it seemed like adventure time. Simple steaming with just sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and coriander.
My verdict: Not bad - there are other types of fish I’d prefer steamed over it, but I’d have it again.
Unfortunately, I was a little careless when I was moving it to the plate and it broke apart a little.

Week 49: Chinese omelette
Eggs with onions and chinese sausage. Eat with rice. May not look like much, but it’s simple and delicious.

Week 48: Dry aged boneless rib-eye steak
I was planning on cooking Asian this week, but I’ve eaten Asian for dinner a few days in a row. And this meat just looked too tempting.

Week 47: Lamb rib chops
Something not-Asian, seeing as I’ve been eating a lot of Chinese recently.

Week 46: Bak kut teh (“meat bone tea”)
An old faithful, but I thought I should make at least one more thing before my mother left. She thought it was up to scratch.

Week 45: Corned beef
Mum’s corned beef recipe is pretty simple. As an added bonus, it’s a slow cooker recipe. However, unless I have guests, it’s too large to eat by myself…
