dSLR
I just bought a dSLR…
I decided to go to a friend’s wedding in Whistler next week, and I’m going to a friend’s wedding in Bali later this year, so two of my friends managed to prey on my previously expressed desire and convince me to buy a dSLR - an idea I’ve been toying on and off with for about two years now.

My Life as a Dog - NYTimes.com →
Today would have been Senator Kennedy’s 79th birthday. In December, Splash died, a little more than a year after his master. Reading that sad news, I remembered the “liberal lion” sitting at his desk while Splash slobbered away on a grimy tennis ball in the corner. It was an image that had soothed nervous interns and disarmed even Kennedy’s fiercest critics in Congress. Then I remembered the...

New Year's Soup
Chap Goh Meh preparations commence! For the last day of Chinese New Year I’m cooking my family’s New Year soup with chicken, abalone, fish maw and five different kinds of mushrooms.
Tomorrow, on Chap Goh, I will serve it with mee sua, as we traditionally do.
We usually eat this on the first day of New Year, but I’m slack so I’m making it for the last day.

Riva
I’ve been re-reading The Belgariad and The Mallorean recently, and it just occurred to me this time round - for a citadel and city that is meant to be designed specifically to protect things and keep people from stealing things, a lot of stuff certainly gets stolen from Riva.

Perth : So You Want to Open a Bar? LOL! | PERTH... →
ecaloshay:
This is why Perth is considered a backwater hick town and why we cannot have nice things.
Read on to hear about the insane amount of trauma restaurateurs and entrepreneurs have to go through when they want their restaurant, cafe, bar, pub, or other venue of public enjoyment to get liquor licensing.
I’m not much of a drinker, but even I think this sounds ridiculous.
*facepalm*

Product Managers & Engineers
caterpillarcowboy:
alinutzav:
The relationship between the product managers and the engineering team is a critical one - and unfortunately most often the tie between the two is broken. The product manager is responsible for defining the solution while the engineering has to deliver it but none is a subordinate of the other. And they complain about each-other all the time, in a kinder garden...

Gong Xi Fa Cai
or Kong Huey Fat Choi, depending on your dialect… I’m not sure how to say it in Hokkien (which is ironic seeing as Hokkien is probably the dialect I’m most familiar with before Mandarin and Cantonese).
Either way: Happy Chinese New Year!
