Microsoft’s Courier ‘digital journal’: exclusive pictures and details (update: video!) — Engadget New courier videos, 1 of 2. Every time I watch these videos, I hope like hell that MS can pull it off. If they can, it’ll kick the crap out of a giant iPod Touch an iPad any day of the week (depending on your purpose for the device).

The World's Best Airports: Skytrax (PHOTOS) →
Nice to know that I kind of know what I’m talking about. I’ve long thought of KLIA and Singapore Changi Airport among the best airports I’ve ever been to.

On being a regular and dining alone
I love being a regular. I love going into a place and having people recognise you and greet you in a friendly manner. I love finding out through the process of being a regular what little dining quirks you have when it comes to that place, or in general. A few months ago I read an article that someone wrote about becoming a regular, and how he hated it. He was upset at the fact that he could go...

Congrats to all nominees but specifically the Northwest nominees: Naomi Pomeroy, Beast - Portland, OR Andy Ricker, Pok Pok - Portland, OR Ethan Stowell, Union - Seattle Cathy Whims, Nostrana - Portland, OR Jason Wilson, Crush - Seattle To my shame, even though I live a three hour drive from Portland, I have yet to go, so I have never had Portland food. Of the two Seattle nominees, I’ve...

RE: A Map of Four Well-Travelled Tales
My strange fascination with Pygmalion (the Shaw play) may actually lead me to track down its historical ancestors… I’ve often wondered why I’m so fascinated with Pygmalion? Certainly it began after the first time I watched My Fair Lady, which is my favourite musical (and one which I regard among the best of all time). When I learned it was based off Shaw’s play, I...

Yup, I'm an ass - and she knows it too
Me: Ok I am adding you and Alwyn as the backup beneficiaries of my retirement fund if my parents aren't around.
Cousin: Sure. Sounds good. Hopefully you don't die though.
Me: Didn't Ma tell you I was diagnosed with cancer?
Cousin: Whatever. That's not funny.

Imelda May * Home I went and saw Jamie Cullum in concert last night, and the opening act was Imelda May and her band. Needless to say, they rocked it. I’m just saying, an opening act who got a standing ovation from everyone in the crowd? You don’t see that too often. Definitely worth checking out - and I will be at least downloading the CD on iTunes if not buying it from Amazon.

ongoing by Tim Bray · Now A No-Evil Zone →
A post from the blog of Tim Bray, co-inventor of XML, on joining Google as a Developer Advocate (focused on Android). A particularly interesting part, I thought, were his thoughts on Apple and the iPhone: As of now, they’re selling around 90K iPhones per day compared to around 60K Android handsets. It’s a horse race! The iPhone vision of the mobile Internet’s future omits controversy, sex, and...

Real Geek Spotting Tips
ecaloshay: (via Belle de Jour) 9. Real geeks don’t need a press release to tell them what to like. I love Apple as much as the next girl but well-designed, widely popular, mass-marketed entertainment devices are not geek. Fact. 8. Real geeks aren’t only focussed in technology areas. If you know someone who can discern tulipwood from kingwood at thirty paces, then that my friend is a geek and...

AppleInsider | Valve announces Steam for Mac,... →
“For example, Steam Play, in combination with the Steam Cloud, allows a gamer playing on their work PC to go home and pick up playing the same game at the same point on their home Mac. We expect most developers and publishers to take advantage of Steam Play.” Not that I’m not relatively excited about this service (no need to reboot into Windows to play my Steam games, yay!), but...
